The Mad Fish Singing Studio was established in 1998 and is based in East Sussex.

It is run by Emma Burnett and has a reputation for excellence.

Students of all ages and abilities are encouraged to take vocal lessons with a view to becoming a professional singer or simply to have fun and grow in confidence.  

The studio has a fun and friendly atmosphere and prides itself on offering many opportunities to it's students such as Concerts, Festivals, Exams, Recording Studio trips, Theatre Trips, Glee Club and all round guidance in the three disciplines of Performing Arts.

The Studio has had many successes and has an 100% LCM exam pass rate.  

Solo students from the studio have been accepted to Mountview, Italia Conti, Guildford School of Acting, East 15, Central School of Speech Drama, Arts Educational Schools, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers and London School of Musical Theatre.

Mad Fish is proud to sponsor and support Arts in the local community, offering scholarships to students, sponsorship to Major Local events such as the East Sussex Talent Show Finale and providing Trophies and Awards for Musical Festivals.

Emma Burnett-Studio Director

Accomplished soprano Emma Burnett has been running the Mad Fish Singing Studio since it began in 1998. Emma trained at the London College of Music where she studied as an Opera Singer gaining her Honours Degree. She then went on to study on The Knack at The ENO.  

Emma made her debut as Nancy in the World Premier of Howard Goodall's musical 'Silas Marner'.

Whilst continuing further study in Music Theatre in London Emma worked for many companies throughout the UK, including Holland Park Opera and English Festival Opera.  Emma then went on to complete five seasons with the world famous D'Oyly Carte Opera Company bringing them back to their home at the Savoy Theatre, London. Here she was resident in the West End for two years in four shows as well as touring the UK and the USA  in HMS Pinafore, The Mikado, Iolanthe and Yeoman of the Guard.

Emma has had a wide and varied career including recording for BBC Radio 4, touring in Musicals of the Millenium, singing with St John Smith Square Choir and the Royal Philharmonic Choir and recording with Kevin Rowland of Dexy's Midnight Runners on his last album.  She has sung at many weddings and Corperate functions over the last 10 years.

Emma is in great demand as a teacher, conductor and musical director and has recently made her debut directing opera for AIMS with the operas 'The Telephone' and 'A Hand of Bridge'.  

Emma was Head of Singing at The Theatre Workshop for Eight years and was fundamental in creating their International Choir, their advanced classes and was Co-Director of their Advanced Academy and Senior Vocal Consultant. 

Emma has taught children in many Professional UK West End and Touring shows including Matilda, Joseph, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Annie, The Sound of Music, South Pacific and Me and my Girl as well as being Musical Director on many other shows including High School Musical, Guys and Dolls, Bugsy Malone and Annie.  She has created International Choirs and taken them to Major Stadiums from the Liverpool Arena to the 02 Arena London.

Emma visits companies and societies to give Masterclasses and Workshops in singing and performance skills.  She also runs a fun and extremely popular Adult Singing Choir called 'Singing for Fun'

Emma presented the 'Sussex Women in Business Awards' in September 2011 and in July 2011 sang at the 1066 Business Award Ceremony as Guest Singer.  She has also been invited to Guest Speak for numerous groups in the County this coming year.  In 2012 she will again be presenting the Women in Business Awards back by popular demand!  Emma is also currently writing a book about singing and the young performer.

Emma believes that everyone should learn to sing as it brings so many positive things to a person, singing is good for the soul and should be enjoyed by everyone.
